Günther Stegmüller graduated from the Heidelberg and Mannheim College of Music. He had a teaching assignment for conducting at the Mannheim College of Music. In addition to that he does various pedagogic and didactic activities, such as teaching master classes as a guest professor at several music colleges abroad.

 As an undergraduate he became conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Heidelberg University. He also became leading conductor of different ensembles, such as the Choir of the Mannheim Music College, the Chamber Orchestra of the Heidelberg University, the Heidelberg Chamber Choir and the Opera Choir of the "Schwetzinger Schlossfestspiele".

 He conducted many opera productions, amongst others with the "Frankfurter Sinfoniker". As assistant conductor at various opera houses and symphony orchestras, a highlight was working together with Leonard Bernstein and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. Numerous CD-, TV- and broadcasting recordings show his work as pianist, conductor and choir master, amongst others at the ZDF, SWR, Süddeutscher Rundfunk as well as the Netherlands and Greek TV.

 Günther Stegmüller founded two ensembles of his own: the "Salon Orchestra Günther Stegmüller", which he conducts from the piano, and in 2003 the symphony orchestra "Starkenburg Philharmonic Orchestra”. With the "Starkenburg Philharmoniker" he conducted more than 90 concerts in 10 years and recorded several CDs. The repertoire of this orchestra includes music from the Baroque to the 20th century, as well as symphonic programs like operas and operettas.

 Günther Stegmüller was the prize-winner at the International Conducting Competition of the Netherlands TV "NOS"; as a result of this he conducted concerts of the Radio Symphony Orchestra Hilversum.

 Many concert trips led him through the whole of Germany (i.e. Heidelberg, Mannheim, Frankfurt, Munich) as well as abroad to countries such as Italy, Great Britain, France, Greek, Czechia and Russia, where he conducted in London, Paris, Hilversum, Athen, Kazan. In autumn 2013 he is to conduct a concert of the Crimean Symphony Orchestra, the Black Sea Symphony Orchestra, in Jalta.
